Pick your ball
Choose a ball that feels comfortable in weight and grip. Use the holes for your thumb, middle finger and ring fingers.

Get in position
Stand at the starting line, aim for the centre pin, and focus on your target.

Swing & Release
Take a few steps forward, swing your arm back and smoothly roll the ball toward the pins.
4
Score and Repeat
You get two chances per turn to knock down as many pins as possible.

How much does a game of bowling cost?
We have a range of pricing so we're always offering the best possible value to our guests. View our pricing here.
Can I cancel or amend my bowling booking?
Our bookings are non-refundable but MyLight members can cancel leisure activities 24 hours ahead of the booking and get a credit for the value of the booking. These credits are valid for 3 months.
If you checked out as a guest, you can link your booking to your account by signing up or logging in and clicking the "Booked as a guest" button on your account menu.
You can view your credit balance in myAccount and you can spend credits by selecting them as a payment option on the payment page while booking a film or leisure activity.
How long is a bowling session?
Our bowling lanes are hired by time period so make sure you book enough time to complete your game.
One game of bowling usually takes 10 minutes per person to complete. So, for example, four bowlers would take 40 minutes to complete one game or two people could complete two games in 40 minutes.
Can I hire the bowling alley?
Yes you can, for further information please head to our Hire page and fill out the enquiry form and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
How can I stay safe while bowling?
Safety rules
Responsibility - The safety of each member of your party is the responsibilty of the individual. If any members of your party are under 18-years-old, their safety is the responsibility of their parent or guardian.
Approach - We ask that you don't eat or drink on the approach (the area where you bowl the ball) and keep it clear at all times. If the approach is sticky or slippery, stop bowling and ask a team member for assistance.
Foul Line -Don't step over the foul line, it is clearly marked with 'do not cross' and the area beyond that point is extremely slippery and could cause you to fall and have a serious injury.
Equipment - Mechanical equipment is dangerous and can cause injuries. If a ball or pin is stuck, or the bumper needs to be raised or lowered, ask a team member for assistance.
Ball Return - Keep your hands away from the ball return or risk serious injury. Please also keep an eye on any children.
What if I am running late to bowl?
We will try to help, but as you are booking is time specific, it may not be possible for us to amend.
Your arrival time is stated on your confirmation email. We ask that you arrive 15 mins before the time of your booking to ensure the game starts on time. As your bowling lane is time sensitive, if you do arrive late you will still have to finish at your original scheduled time.
What is the lightest bowling ball you do?
We offer a range of bowling balls that range from 6lbs to 14lbs.
How many people can bowl on one lane?
You can book a maximum of six players to bowl on one lane.
Do you have a bowling league?
Although we don't yet have our own league or tournaments, we would be more than happy to accommodate, please drop an email to help@thelight.co.uk and we'll get back to you.
Can my child bowl?
Children under four-year-old are not allowed to bowl due to safety reasons.
Can I bowl in my own shoes?
You're welcome to wear your own shows as long as they are flat soled and closed toe.
We also offer free rental of bowling shoes that can be collected from our Bowling Bar, these will be cleaned thoroughly after each use.

We recommend booking your lane online in advance to secure your desired time. This will also guarantee you get the best price and packages. Click here to book your lane.
But, if you fancy joining us on the day we will do our best to accommodate you, but we cannot guarantee availibility.
